Slava Margulis is the owner and managing broker of Key Acquisition Group, which owns and operates Southshore.properties. He entered the real estate industry with limited experience but a strong determination to learn and succeed. Over more than 10 years, his roles have spanned general contracting, investing, project management, renovation design, and real estate sales—a journey that ultimately led him to become a managing broker and brokerage owner. Along the way, he has developed and implemented original design ideas across projects ranging from full gut rehabs and remove-and-replace fix-ups to targeted cosmetic repairs. This hands-on path continues to fuel ambitious plans for growth in an industry that still excites him.
Slava uses that practical experience to guide clients purchasing a home or an income-producing property with clear, informed advice at every stage. His expertise also includes preparing completed properties for sale and managing pricing, marketing, negotiation, and closing—covering the full process from acquisition through the final sale.
Outside of real estate, Slava is a devoted family man who enjoys time with his family and their two Siberian huskies. After immigrating to the United States from the former Soviet Union as a teenager in 1989, Slava and his family navigated challenges similar to those faced by many immigrants: learning a new language, adapting to a different culture, and building a life in an unfamiliar country. The experience deepened his appreciation for perseverance, opportunity, and community, along with his commitment to giving back to the city of Chicago that welcomed his family.
During those early years, Slava was introduced to and fell in love with the game of basketball, becoming a loyal Chicago Bulls fan. He was lucky enough to witness all six of the team’s championships in the 1990s firsthand and has remained a devoted fan through the team’s highs and lows. That passion led him to learn and play the game; he has participated in multiple basketball leagues throughout the years, and his weekly pickup games continue to this day.
